Compare and Contrast
Gods
In ancient Egypt the citizens worshipped over 2000 different gods. They were all different considering their appearances or what they did or protected. However today around the world we mainly worship just one God but some people still follow the ancient Egyptian religion.
Funerals / how the celebrate death
In ancient Egypt funerals would be considered a large part of religion although the loved ones of the deceased would be through grief after a death, everyone believed that they moved on for the better and that they were heading into their 2nd souls life. However now we don’t thoroughly celebrate deaths although we do attend funerals. In ancient times the families did not attend funerals the only one that did was the priest, now day’s family and friends attend the service to pay respect.
The role of a priest
The priest in ancient times would have to work and worship for the gods of Egypt. They would care for them by bringing them food, drinks, sheets, jewellery and offer prayers. Although now days the main role of a priest is to educate and talk about his religion.
Methods of healing wounds
In ancient Egypt they had developed many different ways of healing various wounds. Their medical terminology is really what has helped us into modern days. An example of what they used to do was pour honey on cuts or wounds. This would heal the wound very well but take longer than the modern ways that we have now, being instead of pouring honey on things we will use antiseptic cream to sooth the burn or cut and this will heal the cut or burn faster. This was just one of the many different ways that we have developed our healing ideas over time.
Sanitation
Sanitation in ancient Egypt was more unsafe than safe. There was no proper technology to protect people from the dangerous parasites lurking in places like drinking water or public facilities. People would get sick from things like drinking water because water was collected from the Nile River where it had things like crocodiles, people washing them selves, waste disposal and of course to drink from. These days we have the technology to automatically purify our water to become safe for human consumption. We also bathe in our homes where the wastewater or any disposals will go to the sewers beneath ground. This is good because it keeps people from getting water or sanitation diseases.
We owe a lot to the Egyptians because they have helped us more than you think. Whether it is our medical equipment or how they celebrated different things. It is surprising how much we have in common it is just the small things like technology and who we worship most. Overall the Ancient Egyptians have helped us get to where we are now, if we didn’t have them would we have all this?
