Ancient Egyptian Gods - Anubis
Anubis was the god who watched over the embalming process before the mummification process. Whilst the embalming process the priests would wear the mask of Anubis being the head of a Jackal. The origin of the Jackal mask was that Egyptians saw Jackals in cemetery’s all the time so they assumed that Anubis was watching over all the dead.
